Hi!  I am back from my internship around Europe and Africa!  Here are letters I wrote to my supporters while I was gone:
ENGLAND
Namaste,
I have just come back from visiting a Hindu temple.  The spiritual darkness was undeniable.  Some had to leave while the man was talking.  Other broke into tears and could not breathe.  Many came into worship while we were in there.  It was one of the saddest things to witness.  Sitting on the floor, I silently prayed for our team and for those worshipping and the other Hindus in the area.  We had just seen Carey Hall which was founded by William Carey who was a missionary to India.  He ministered to this people group, and now this hall was in the midst of more Hindu temples than churches.
This morning we had our first day of kid's club.  The team split into two groups.  My group had a nice number of around 30 children show up.  I co-taught the lesson of the Prodigal Son with Steve.  We had the children split up into three groups and rotated them to the different stations.  It was an amazing opportunity.  Most of the children were from Hindu families.  They were amazing listeners and incredibly well-behaved.  They listened and knew the lesson so well when we asked them questions afterwards.  I am excited to see what God can do with this.  Tomorrow after our second day of kid's club we are having a potluck and inviting all of the families.  We will also be putting on a little program after dinner.  It is encouraging to hear how excited the children had been to come to our kid's club!  We had spent many days praying beforehand.  Knowing that a kid's club had never been put on during this break of school, we had no idea what to expect.  God took care of the details and helped us plan and run the first day smoothly.
Yesterday, we had many sessions with different missionaries in England who minister to the Muslims.  Also, we had the opportunity to visit a mosque.  It was very interesting.  The man who spoke to us there started off with an amazing proclamation on who Allah or God was.  Any Christian would have agreed as he claimed God to be creator, all-powerful, and all-knowing.  Then he went into the five pillars of Islam and took a jab at President Bush.  It spurred many questions, which we were able to ask the missionaries afterwards.
Upon arriving in Leicester, I managed to lock myself in my room within the first five minutes of entering our bed and breakfast. It was a bright point (for everyone else) after a long bus ride from London.  Since we have settled into David's House, we have found a slug, broken a bed, and rushed to prepare everything for kid's club!  The missionaries are keeping us busy, but we are growing closer to God and to eachother daily.  We are learning what it is like to be a missionary on the field.  Most importantly we are establishing relationships with many different people. By establishing relationships with the missionaries' Gujharati contacts in London, we helped them further their ministry!  It was nice to be a blessing and not a burden!  Praise God!
While in London, it was so interesting to see how the second generation of Indians in England was handling their religion and culture.  Every day in London we were learning more about Hinduism (or rather the reality that Hinduism is just a western word put on the practices of a people group).  Every Hindu that we talked to, we heard a little bit different story on how they worshipped and what their religion was all about.  Being from a family that tends to enjoy debating different beliefs, I was surprised to see how the Gujharati people and other Hindus did not even care when they contradicted themselves.

I know I gave you the backword rendition of what has been happening, but I hope this is all will give you a better picture of what is going on in England.  Please continue to pray!  More Missionaries are needed in England!  There are so many Indians to reach with the Gospel!  Also, if you get this in time pray for Friday night at 6 here when we have our dinner for the families!  I have to leave for a meeting, but will try to write you all again soon!!

Love,
Kristina

ROMANIA
Buna Ziwa,
Sorry it has been so long since an update!  We have been in the mountains of Romania at a camp!  The dinner went very well on Friday in England.  We performed our Jesus drama and one of the teenagers that saw it kept asking questions in a sihk temple that we visited later that evening.  It is so neat to see the way God was working in her life to lead her up to that night.  If you remember, please pray that the Holy Spirit would work in Nikki life!  She is asking a lot of questions right now and hopefully the missionaries there can follow up after we left.  Another amazing part about England was building relationships with Hindi ladies.  Harsha taught a couple of us how to make an Indian dish when we had tea with her.  She was so generous and hospitable.  It was sad to see the mini temple to her gods in her room and the many pictures of Hindu gods throughout her house.
We arrived safely in Romania with only one small problem.  In the Hungary airport, one of our team members misplaced his passport.  It made us all realize how important our passports are.  The rest of the team had to hurry to not miss our train while that team member and Dr. Morgan spent the day in the airport trying to work out the mess.  God brought them safely to Romania the next morning with passport in hand.  Praise God!
After getting the history of Timisoara, we went to Petris.  We spent a week in the mountains at a camp.  We did numerous work projects all day every day.  It was intense but a nice change of pace.  We got to minister to the elderly!  They were the cutest people I have seen in a while!  They don't speak any English but they grab your arm and talk non-stop.  They are so lonely so it was nice to brighten there day and help them fix up their yards.  Also, I helped out with the kid's club.  The children were amazing!  I really connected with two boys!  Their names are Antonio and Colin.  They were so cute!  They would hang around me and teach me new Romanian words!  I want to go back to them!  I miss them now that we are back in Timisoara.  These village children were very poor but on the second to last day these children preformed a song for us leaders without our help and gave us each cards they had made for us with their addresses on them.  Also, many gave different leaders stuffed animals, thier Bibles, different food items, and jewelry.  They were so giving and had so little.  On the last day, we presented the gospel, one of the team members gave his testimony, and we performed the Jesus drama.  We asked the kid's if they wanted to give their lives to Jesus and almost all of them came forward.  While one leader led them in prayer, the rest of the leaders and me prayed for the children and that the Holy Spirit would be present and working in their hearts.  I hope and pray that they really knew what they were doing and believe.  These children have no programs and the only semi good church is all the elderly.  There is no one to disciple the children.  The day we left Petris I just wanted to cry.  It was so disheartening.  We had worked so hard for these children and now they were left with nothing.  I wanted to give them everything I had on me so that when they saw that they would remember God and what we had taught them.  It was definetly the most meaningful and difficult place to leave.  Please pray for these children!  I cannot wait to show you pictures of them!  They are amazing children of God!
I am running out of time.  I do not know when I will be able to come back to the internet.  Sorry my updates are so few and far between!  I hope and pray you are all doing well!  Thank you so much for your letters!
Oh my birthday was amazing!  The sweetest old woman named Anna made me a massive donut with a candle in it!  It was very delicious!  I want the recipe!  She made us so many good dishes!  Apple bread, some special traditional Romanian dish, soups, and even omlets!  She was  so cute.  THere is something about not speaking the same language that just makes you connect more!

Please pray for the team we are all having problems with health.  Also, we are coming up to a time of 4 days in traveling to South Africa.  It is going to be rough and we would greatly appreciate your prayers!  Thank you so much for praying!  You have no idea how much I appreciate it!

Love,
Kristina

Salut!

The past few days in Timisoara I have gotten to work with some children in an orphanage.  The children are between the ages of 2 and 4.  They are so cute!  I was able to go to McDonalds with a group of them.  We just held them and helped them eat and keep our eyes on them.  I got orange juice spilt all over me!  lol It was worth it!  We then took the kids out to chase the pigeons in the square.  My little girl I was chasing around kept trying to hit them with her balloon.  The next morning we all went to the orphanage and put on a puppet show and sang songs.  It was a fun but depressing to leave.  I felt like the children were always left and we were just continuing the trend.
We are helping minister with the church we are staying at through their college group and youth group.  The people here are very hospitable and friendly!  We have all grown to love Romania.  I truly hope to come back here someday.  I love the people here and was not expecting to at all.  I am leaving for South Africa tomorrow and will not be able to use e-mail anymore.  I will send you letters when I get back to give you a final rundown of what happened.  Otherwise I will see you in a month!  I hope and pray you are all doing well!

your sis in Christ,
Kristina

I will do the next two countries later :) Don't want to over burden you all!  Have a Merry Christmas everyone!

lol I am very stable...I would have never guessed!  j/k I am being sarcastic....So I just had to take my first pill ever!  I have to take Typhoid pills instead of a Typhoid shot...why?  I don't know.  It stinks!  I am not used to taking pills and couldn't swallow it!  I tried and tried for like 10 minutes drinking glass after glass.  Finally, I started laughing and when I sucked breath back in the pill went down my throat!  Yay!  I don't need no stinkin' water!  All I need is laughter!  A girl in my class who is going on the trip with me was teasing me.  She was like yeah now on the trip we will be taking our malaria pills and be delayed for an hour cause "oh tina still hasn't taken her pill."  lol I hope I can get better before then!

I just got my first credit card today!!!! Wow!  I am slightly excited!  I feel more like an adult!  Ok, so anyways, I am telling you all because I had to call in to activate my credit card and I talked to this guy named Ryan.  Lol He was so friendly.  He started asking me what I was doing and I was telling him that I was preparing for this meal I was making tomorrow for a bunch of people.  He was then inviting himself to my meal.  I told him he could come and that it was at Northwestern College.  Lol he was like "well I live in Salt lake city...are you going to fly me out there?  Since you are having this dinner to fundraise you can raise money so I can come to your dinner."  lol I was like you can pay for your own ticket...you work for Discover!  My parents are listening to this one-sided conversation and wondering why I am talking about this when I am supposed to be activating my credit card!  I was laughing so hard.    Ryan, you totally brightened my day!

Ok, so here is my little homework break for the day!  Hope you are all having a great weekend!

Pesto Pizza
Adventurous and hedonistic.
You live for new experiences and tastes
And you're not the type to have your pizza the same way twice
If they can put it on pizza, you're up for trying it!

Um well I like pesto pizza but I don't know if the explanation fits!  lol

You Are a Chick Rocker!
You're living proof that chicks can rock
You're inspired by Joan Jett and the Donnas
And when you rock, you rock hard
(Plus, you get all the cute guy groupies you want!)
OH yeah!  that is right!  I like this result
